2019 WHITE
100% Chardonnay
Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County, California
Fermented & aged in 50% new and 50% once used French oak
Site and sound come to mind with the 2019 White. SITE: Two world class vineyards at the Eastern edge of the Santa Rita Hills appellation. One situated on steep slopes that face directly west and into the winds that flow from the Pacific Ocean. The other, family-owned and dominated by the morning fog and afternoon maritime influence, grown only 9 miles from the ocean. SOUND: A cool climate Chardonnay that simply sings; it bursts with citrus blossom, tropical notes, hazelnut, white peach and a saline-like minerality. Medium-bodied with a textural depth that floats through the mid-palate to an invigorating finish. We get a distinct Burgundian vibe here, but with a Cali swag, of course.

90pts, Wine Enthusiast | "Generously aromatic on the nose, this bottling begins with floral wafts of gardenia, jasmine and lily as well as a bit of white-lemon flesh. The floral tones carry through on the sip, but also pick up lemongrass and coconut-cream flavors as well." -Matt Kettman
2017 THE STORY
83% Grenache, 17% Syrah
Willow Creek District, Paso Robles, California
Fermented in stainless steel, aged for 20 months in 80% once-used French oak and 20% neutral French oak
This Grenache-dominated blend shows finesse and balance in its youth. Varietals are grown in the Willow Creek District on the westside of Paso Robles. The terroir is of a higher elevation, calcareous and limestone-rich with strong oceanic influences from the Pacific. The vineyards thrive with a diurnal shift in temperature of up to 30 °F from morning to night during the growing season. Aromas of sweet and spice dance back-and-forth in this Grenache blend. The Story is all about smooth versatility while offering a full body that will burst with flavors of berry tart and ripe red fruit. The finish is both extended and with a touch of baking spice. Pleasureful and extremely food-friendly.

93 pts - Vinous | "Deep, brilliant ruby. Expressive, spice- and mineral-accented raspberry and cherry preserve aromas pick up floral and cola nuances with air. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated red/blue fruit, lavender pastille and star anise flavors that steadily deepen on the back half. Supple, well-judged tannins lend framework to a very long, sappy finish that strongly echoes the floral and spice notes. All neutral oak." - Josh Raynolds
91 pts - Wine Enthusiast | "Fresh yet dark blackberry aromas meet with lilac and black plum on the nose of this bottling, which is bolstered by 17% Syrah. The palate is ripe and thick yet tethered to solid tannins, allowing creamy flavors of black plum and blackberry to converge with leather and roasted meat." -Matt Kettman
91 pts, Jeb Dunnuck | “The Story offers a ripe, sweet nose of plums, bay leaf, incense, and candied blood orange. This carries to a medium to full-bodied blend that's fruit-forward and has ripe, polished tannins, a good mid-palate, and a solid finish.”

The Cure is our interpretation of the southern Rhône’s classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Varietals are grown in California’s Central Coast region, including Edna Valley, Paso Robles Willow Creek District and Santa Barbara County. Soils are comprised of mineral-laden calcareous, as well as Arnold sand and elder shaly loam, giving the wine a multilayered and balanced composition. Unmistakenly inspired by the Rhône, cassis and blackberry perfume the glass, chocolate and spice dance across the textured palate with a refined tannic structure and a delightfully long finish.
93 pts, Wine Enthusiast | "... impressive density in this blend ... with aromas of blackberry paste, smoked beef, violets and dark chocolate. It lands with power on the palate, adding licorice and nutmeg to that aromatic array." - Matt Kettman
92 pts, Jeb Dunnuck | “Ripe red plums, incense, black pepper, and new leather notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, ripe, polished effort that has solid balance, plenty of fruit, no hard edges, and a great finish.”
92 pts, Vinous | "Opaque violet. Potent cherry, black raspberry and candied lavender scents pick up allspice, licorice and smoked meat qualities with air. Chewy, densely packed red/blue fruit liqueur and floral pastille flavors stain the palate, and a peppery nuance builds on the back half. Dusty, well-knit tannins lend shape and grip to an impressively long, floral-accented finish that emphatically echoes the blue fruit note. All neutral oak" - Josh Raynolds
91 pts, Connoisseurs' Guide | " ... rich, ripe bottling combines red berry notes with hints of loam, spice and the lifting presence of creamy oak."
90 pts, Wine Spectator | "A red with gusto, offering ripe blackberry, garrigue and peppered anise flavors that build toward zesty tannins. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. Drink now through 2026. 120 cases made." -TF
