"A great man once said
that the true symbol of the United States is not the bald eagle.
It is the pendulum.
And when the pendulum swings too far in one direction
it will go back."

Tasting Notes
The word Amrit, originates from India and is derived from Sanskrit. It translates to "immortality.” In ancient Indian texts, it is synonymous with elixir, ambrosia or a divine nectar. The timelessness of an international varietal such as Chardonnay is perhaps a given as it continues to be the most widely planted white wine grape on the planet. The other edge of that sword is that it is probably also one of the most misunderstood varietals, being typecast with stereotypical terms like "oaky," "buttery" or "lean." For our part, the 2022 Amrit Chardonnay from Bien Nacido Vineyard doesn't strive to be defined in these ways. This wine is perhaps a bridge in between the old and new worlds with brighter notes of lemon and tropical fruit on the nose that enjoy a vibrantly spirited dance with its rich texture and creamy finish.
Winemaking
Grapes were gently whole cluster pressed. After cold settling the wine was fermented at cool temperatures in a combination of neutral French oak and Amphora. 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine was stirred throughout primary and secondary fermentation to enrich the mid-palate and strike a balance with the wine's vibrant acidity.
Élevage
The wine rested for 18 months in 50% new and once used French oak and 50% neutral French oak.
